T-Mobile Set to Land at 1218-D Fulton Street

TmobileWe knew it was going to happen. Hot on the heels of the news of SprintPCS's opening in the Bed-Stuy Gateway is this rumor which has since been confirmed of T-Mobile's entry into Central Brooklyn. T-Mobile is going to set up a company shop at 1218 Fulton Street, at the intersection of Arlington Place, in a double-wide space currently half-occupied by Gentleman's Quarters.

Gentleman's Quarter's is set to close shop by the end of June 2006 and T-Mobile will reportedly take over the space the next day and begin build-out of the store that will occupy the Gentleman's Quarter's space and the vacant storefront next door.

Heard on the Street: Do we smell BBQ?

1246fultonstreet

We've heard from different sources in the neighborhood that Dallas BBQ may be landing in Bed-Stuy somewhere on Fulton Street. Of course, we have no first-hand knowledge of this fact, but in our daily wanderings around the neighborhood, we noticed that E&V Department Store at 1242-1246 Fulton Street is closing it's doors because it lost its lease.

The building E&V occupies has 50 feet of frontage on Fulton Street and is listed as having 5,000 square feet of retail space. We went into E&V today and asked the manager of the store if he knew what the next tenant was supposed to be, and he said that "some baby or kid's store" was supposed to move in - but don't we have enough apparel stores already?

We were slightly let down that our investigative reporting techniques didn't give us a scoop. Furthermore, the artistic rendering we made of what we think BBQ would look like on 1242-1246 Fulton Street immediately made our mouth drool at the thought of one of BBQ's Texas sized margaritas just down the street, and g-d knows we're not interested in waiting in the looong line at the Livingston Street BBQ in downtown Brooklyn. Oh well, at least we have Applebee's.

Anyone else want to corroborate this rumor?
